Due to Corona Pandemic that hit the Earth in 2020 and still forces countries to a total lockdown Radio International has started the second series of the EUROVISION LOCKDOWN which are two extra live shows of Eurovision madness on Saturdays and Sundays for the time of the Corona Lockdown in the United Kingdom that started on Saturday 09 January 2021.

The Team of Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience thought of easing the tough times with two additional Eurovision radio shows on Saturdays and Sundays. The idea is to entertain the listeners and fans with lots of Eurovision music of the 66 year history of the Eurovision Song Contest plus new music the Eurovision artists have released after their performance in the contest and most of all also the music requests of the listeners and fans.

In the last series from March till June 2020 the show became popular and fans joined JP and the Radio International Team to present themed hours. We would like to continue on this in the second series.  Fans can actively take part in the show to join JP and his team in the studio via a SKYPE phone call live on air to talk about their thoughts and request their favourite song which does not need to be a Eurovision song.

The shows are live via Castlepoint FM and Switch FM in the United Kingdom but available also via the Radio International Facebook Group "Eurovision Radio International" where you can find the show's chatroom. Below are the details and links to the broadcasts. Can't join us live? Don't worry - all the shows will be available as additional PODCASTS via our radiointernational.podbean.com channel or our Radio International Mixcloud Channel.

Join the Eurovision Fan Community listening to the shows and chat with the fans four hours every Saturday and Sunday. The Wednesday editions of the show remains the same as always starting at 1900 hours CET.

 CONTENT OF TODAY's  SHOW

First Hour: 
THE EUROVISION HAPPY HOUR:  JP will start in the first two hours with some Eurovision Classics, your listener's requests and new material of Eurovision artists that have reached the Radio International Tower of Eurovision Power.  JP will also be revisiting two Eurovision Song Contests and plays five songs from a particular Eurovision year.

Second Hour:
EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL: Ten Good Reasons why Morocco should return to the Eurovision:  John Dawton rejoins JP in the studio for ten great songs by Moroccan artists which are so good that they could easily have a place in the Eurovision Song Contest. That's why Morocco should return to the Eurovision Song Contest. Back in 1980 Morocco was represented by Samira Ben Said in the contest with the song "Bitakat hob" coming 18th.

Third and Fourth Hour: 
EUROVISION XXXXL - The History of Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest:  Javier Leal will be closing out the current series of the Eurovision Lockdown as he will be co-hosting the last two hours with the History of Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Third Hour: 
EUROVISION 2021 - The Assessment with The Europ-Ian Channel: The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 was staged on 18 and 20 May 2021 with the two Semi Finals and then the Grand Final on 22 May 2021 from the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Italy won with Maneskin and "Zitti e buoni". Ian will be joining JP to chat about the Eurovision Song Contest in general and what could be done to improve the results of the United Kingdom in the contest.

 

Fourth Hour:  

EUROVISION SPOTLIGHT XXL: You and Me with Ross Bennett:  Radio International's Ross Bennett rejoins JP in the studio for the sixth and final part in the series where Ross selects a set of Eurovision songs that contain "You and me" in the lyrics. Looking forward to a cheerful hour with Ross on the Eurovision Lockdown once again.

Interviews with Jendrik (Germany 2021) and Samanta Tina (Latvia):  Rotterdam in the Netherlands staged the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on 18, 20 and 22 May 2021 with Italy's Maneskin winning with the song "Zitti e buoni". In the run up to the contest as well as during the rehearsal weeks Radio International had four shows from Rotterdam broadcasting many interviews with the participating artists. Two are still left for broadcast and that is with Germany's Jendrik and Samanta Tina from Latvia which you can hear on the show this week. Jendrik represented Germany with the song "I don't feel hate" which he wrote himself. Eric and JP from Radio International met the singer in the Rotterdam Press Centre for an update interview. Sadly, the song only came 25th in the Grand Final.

Samanta Tina represented Latvia in Rotterdam with the song "The Moon is rising" which unfortunately ended up 17th in her Semi Final 2. Eric and JP met Samanta in the Press Centre before her performance in Semi Final 2 for an interview which you can hear on the show this week.

Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 - Post Eurovision Depression (PED) Cure:  Join in this Sunday, 16 May 2021 live from 1300 - 1700 CET exceptionally on SWITCH FM for another special edition of Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience. It's is the day after the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 staged in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on 22 May 2021 and we look back over Eurovision 2021 and once more play the songs in the order of their position they reached in the shows. 

Listen to interviews with the Eurovision Winners 2021 Maneskin from Italy, the Runner Up Barbara Pravi from France as well as Finland's Blind Channel (Number 6). The interviews were done since our last show on Wednesday, 19 May 2021 and also we travel back into the history of the Eurovision Song Contest by looking at the Gallery of the Winners of the contest going back to 1956.

Dermot Manning from Dublin as well as Ian from the Europ-Ian-Interview join JP in the studio to assess the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Then there will be the Eurovision Birthday File and the Eurovision Cover Spot with Sir David Mann.

In the run up to the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final the Team of Radio International on location conducted interviews with most of the delegations which you could hear in the last three editions of Radio International in three parts. The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 from Rotterdam, The Netherlands: It's ShowTime as the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands has begun with Semi Final 1. 39 countries are competing in two Semi Finals on Tuesdays, 18 May 2021 (Semi Final 1), Thursday, 20 May 2021 (Semi Final 2) and the Top Ten of both Semi Finals will be joining the Host country The Netherlands and the Big Five countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom in the Grand Final on Saturday 22 May 2021.
