Europe's biggest national final - Melodifestivalen 2017 took place on Saturday 11 March 2017 in the Friends Arena near Stockholm when Sweden and the International Jury selected Robin Bengtsson to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song 'I can't go on". The Team of Radio International was on location and conducted various interviews at the rehearsals and the Official Opening Party in Stockholm's legendary Town Hall. Last week you heard the first part of the Melodifestivalen 2017 Recap - this week it is the second and final part. Enjoy the show.

Melodifestivalen is Sweden's national music competition to find the best song of the year. The winner of this competition will be use to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. 28 acts went through four Semi Finals and a Second Chance round before getting into the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2017 which again is held at the Friends Arena in Solna (Near Stockholm) on Saturday, 11 March 2017 with a live audience of almost 30000 spectators. In 2016, Frans won Melodifestivalen 2016 with the song "If I were sorry" which came 5th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Eurovision Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience is present at the location and conducted interviews with all the performers plus more. May Sweden and the International Jury select the best song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev on 09 May 2017 in Semi Final 1.

Hour 1 and 2: Melodifestivalen Hightlights and Hour 3: Melodifestivalen 2017




To get the fans into the mood for Melodifestivalen 2017, on Europe's Ultimate Eurovision Experience - Radio International this week JP plays some of the highlights of Melodifestivalen from recent years. And in the third hour you will hear all the songs that will be competing in Melodifestivalen 2017 of which the winner will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2017 in Kiev, Ukraine. The show will be available at all the usual stations just not on Facebook this week, however on the Radio International Livestream Channel available here. starting at 2000 hours CET on Wednesday, 08 March 2017 and on RTV Katwijk in the Netherlands on FM at 2100 hours CET.

Due to this special more music edition of the show the regular content only returns next week such as the Eurovision News, the Eurovision Cover Spot, The Clip Quiz, your requests, etc. But also will be spiced with the interviews JP and Eric did at Melodifestivalen 2017.
