Het Grote Eurovisie Songfestivalfeest took place on 15 December 2019 which was recorded for broadcast on Dutch channel NPO3 on New Year's Eve to ring in the Netherlands being host of the the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam May 12, 14 and 16. For the fans that could not be among the live audience or missed this particular TV show you can catch up on YouTube by clicking here. Prior to the show a Press event was organised by the production company and Radio International met some of the participating artists for a short interview you can hear on the show this week and in the weeks to come.



Interview with Eimaer Quinn (Eurovision Winner 1996, Ireland):  "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show took place on 15 December 2019 and one of the many Eurovision Winners invited was in fact the very last Eurovision victory for Ireland, from 1996, Eimaer Quinn who won the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song "The Voice".  Radio International's JP had the pleasure to meet Eimaer after her rehearsal in Amsterdam and conducted an interview which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International with revealing some interesting facts.

Interview with Ruslana (Eurovision Winner 2004): It was in 2004 when a Semi Final was added to determine which of the increasing number of Eurovision countries would compete in the Grand Final to find out which will be the winning song of 2004. The very first Semi Final was won by Serbia and Montenegro's Zjelko Joksimovic with the song "Lane Moje" and Ukraine's Ruslana with the song "Wild Dances"came second. In the Grand Final it was exactly the opposite with Serbia and Montenegro coming second and the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was won by Ukraine with Ruslana's "Wild Dances". It was the Ukrain's second participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Ruslana has been very active in the world of the Eurovision Song Contest and is always full of energy and new ideas. Ruslana was also part of the "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show and attended a media meeting. Radio International had the pleasure to chat with Ruslana. Interview with Izhar Cohen (Eurovision Winner 1978, Israel):  "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show took place on 15 December 2019 and one of the many Eurovision Winners invited was in fact the very first Eurovision victory for Israel from 1978, Izhar Cohen who together with the Alphabeta won the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "A Ba Ni Bi". With this kicking off the four victories for Israel. Izhar returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 reaching Number 5 with the the song "Ole Ole Ole". Radio International's JP had the pleasure to meet Izhar after his rehearsal in Amsterdam and conducted an interview which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International.

Interview with Getty Kaspers of Teach In (Eurovision Winner 1975): The Netherlands won the Eurovision Song Contest a total of five times with the last one being Duncan Laurence who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Arcade" and with this bringing the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 to Rotterdam in May. The Eurovision Baton was now handed over to Duncan by the previous Dutch Eurovision Queen who won back in 1975 when Getty Kaspers was the lead singer of the the group Teach In. The winning song was "Ding a Dong". Getty was also part of the "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show and attended a media meeting. Radio International had the pleasure to chat with Getty about her times back in 1975 and the career afterwards. Enjoy the interview which is broadcast on this week's edition of Radio International.

Interview with Katerine Duska (Greece 2019, Number 21): Greece was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 by Katerine Duska with the song "Better Love" reaching Number 21 in the Grand Final in Tel Aviv. Currently living in Canada, Katerine travels around the world to perform concerts to her fans. In November 2019 she came to London where Martin Palmer, show host of the Eurovision radio show "Let me be the One" on BSR in Bristol, met Katerine for an interview. Interview with Mahmood (Italy 2019): At the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Italy's entry "Soldi" performed by Mahmood became the Runner Up to Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands in Tel Aviv. Being a fans' favourite Mahmood was invited to "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show to once more give a rendition of the second most favourite Eurovision Song of 2019. Radio International chatted with Mahmood during the medica event after his rehearsal.

Interview with Serhat (San Marino 2016 and 2019): Like Sergey Lazarev also Serhat, although being Turkish, represented San Marino twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was in 2016 with the song "I didn't know" which ended up at Number 12 in Semi Final 1 but then in 2019 Serhat achieved the biggest result ever for the micro state of San Marino by qualifying San Marino for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 and then reached the best ever position for the country being Number 19 with the song "Say Na Na Na". JP from Radio International caught up with the singer in Amsterdam for a quick career update which you can hear on this week's edition of the show.

Interview with Liza Misnikova (Junior Eurovision 2019, Belarus, Number 11):
To close out the series of interviews with the participating young singers from across Europe in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 this week Radio International air the interview with Liza Misnikova who represented Belarus with the song "Pepelny" (Ashen). The song received 92 points in the Final and thus ranked her country at Number 11. Radio International's JP and David Mann met the young singer for an interview which closes out the series of Junior Eurovision interviews 2019.

Interview with Sergey Lazarev (Russia 2016 and 2019): Russia's amazing voice of Sergey Lazarev was part of the is big Eurovision Song Contest Festival in Amsterdam on 15 December 2019. Sergey represented Russia twice and reached third place in both occasions. In 2016 it was in Stockholm's Globen Arena and the song he performed was "You are the only one" and in 2019 he returned with the song "Scream". Will Sergey return for a third time. Interview with KEiiNO (Norway 2019): At the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Norway's Trio KEiiNO won the public vote by far at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv with the song "Spirit in the Sky". KEiiNO are Tom Hugo, Alexandra and Fred and since their entry at Eurovision they have been touring around the Eurovision World. New material is also on the horizon. Being a fans' favourite the band was invited to "Het grote Eurovisie Song Festval" TV show and Radio International chatted with KEiino after their rehearsal.
