Eurovision 2025 Hosts Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer with JP

Eurovision Song Contest 2025:  On the show this week Radio International takes you back to the 17 May 2025 when the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 was staged in the St. Jacob's Halle in Basel, Switzerland. Let's relive the moments and the music, plus excerpts from the Winner's Media Conference after JJ's Victory as well as a media conference of the Hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 - Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer. Hazel is a comedian on German TV and Sandra is a TV Show Host and a former representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991 coming 5th with "Conzone per te" as she was back then known as Sandra Simo.

The Radio International Jury Results vs the results of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025:  In the run up of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 the Team of Radio International, selected fans to the show and colleagues from other radio shows were asked to cast their votes out of ten points for each song of this year's contest. Suzy (Portugal 2024) with JP at OGAE Germany's Convention 2024

Interview with Suzy (Portugal 2014): This week's interview is with Suzy who represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Quero ser tua" coming 11th in Semi Final 1 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Radio International Interview Team had the pleasure to meet Suzy for a deeper interview at the OGAE Germany Annual Convention 2024 in January.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024:  France won the 2023 edition of the The Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Zoé Clauzure singing "Coeur" which was the third victory of France within the 2020s. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be staged from the Caja Magica in Madrid on 16 Nov 2024 with young singers from 17 countries taking part. All the songs are known and you will hear them on Radio International as from this week plus some highlights from previous years. Eurovision Spotlight - The History of Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest: The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 was won by Nemo who represented Switzerland in Malmoe, Sweden this year with the song "The Code". With that victory Nemo took the contest back to Switzerland where it all begun in 1956 with the late Lys Assia from Switzerland being the first Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Refrain". Celine Dion from Canada represented and won for Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi" in 1988 giving Switzerland three victories.
As a tradition the Team of Radio International reviews all the Eurovision entries of the upcoming host country and this week Alasdair Rendall continues the series in the Eurovision Spotlight taking a look at the Swiss entries to Eurovision.

Tini Kainrath of the Rounder Girls
at the OGAE Germany Convention 2024 in Munich, Germany

Interview with Tini Kainrath of the Rounder Girls (Austria 2000): This week's interview is with Tini Kainrath of the Rounder Girls who  represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden with the song "All to you" coming 14th. Unfortunately, The Rounder Girls seized to exist due to the passing of one of the three members. Since then Tini continued with solo projects. Find out the details on the interview you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International.
The Radio International Inteview Team had the pleasure to meet Tini at the OGAE Germany Annual Convention 2024 in January.

 

 

Martin Lee of the Brotherhood of Man (United Kingdom 1976) passed away

Tribute to Martin Lee of the Brotherhood of Man (United Kingdom 1976): On 29 September 2024 the Eurovision Community received the said news that Martin Lee of the Brotherhood of Man has passed away at the age of 77 after a short illness. Brotherhood of Man won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1976 with the song "Save your kisses for me" and following that they had a string of hits such as "Figaro" and "Angelo", just mention a few. Radio International will be broadcasting a tribute to Martin Lee on the show this week and play some of his music before joining the Brotherhood of Man.

Live Interview with Thomas Forstner (Austria 1989 and 1991): One of the rare occasions when a Eurovision artist returns to the scene of crime as we saw that from Johnny Logan who won the Eurovision Song Contest twice for Ireland, Chiara represented Malta even three times and the very first winner Lys Assia was the Swiss Musical Ambassador even four times. But there are more. In fact, the guest on this week's edition of Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience represented his native Austria twice. 
In 1989, Thomas Forstner performed "Nur ein Lied" ("Only A Song") in Lausanne,Switzerland giving Austria the fifth place — their highest position since their last victory in 1966 and until Austria's victory in 2014 with Conchita Wurst and "Rise like a Phoenix".  Thomas Forstner was selected to represent Austria again at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 in Rome, Italy with "Venedig im Regen" ("Venice in Rain") reaching Number 22.

Since his Eurovision participation he released some singles and the latest single released was in May 2021 entitled "Summer Dream" which is right on time for the Summer of 2021.
The Interview Team of Radio International is looking forward to meet Thomas Forstner on the show this week to get to know him better and listen to the stories from his participation at the Eurovision Song Contest and his career beyond.

Eurovision 2017: Interview with Nathan Trent (Austria)

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Kyiv, Ukraine, returning to the capital city that last hosted the show in 2005. A total of forty-two countries compete this year on May 9th and 11th in the two Semi Finals and then in the Grand Final itself on May 13th 2017.
