Eurovision Winner 2024 Nemo winning the contest for Switzerland

The Grand Final of the Eurovison Song Contest 2024 was staged in the Swedish City of Malmoe on Saturday, 11 May 2024 from the Malmoe Arena with 37 countries competing via two Semi Finals and 25 countries that made it to the Grand Final. The Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is Nemo for Switzerland with the song "The Code". On the show this week listen back to an interview the Radio International Team did with the winning act prior his victory.

For Dose 3 of the PED Cure the Team of Radio International had the pleasure to meet the Eurostars of the 2024 class of the Eurovision Song Contest and also previous Eurovision performers. This week listen to interviews with Eurovision Winner  Carola who represented Sweden three times. It was in 1983 with the song "Fraemling" ("Stranger") coming third, then in 1991 she won the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 with the song "Captured by a love storm" and then she tried again reaching 5th place with the song "Invincible" in 2006. Carola was closing the Turquoise Carpet at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe. 
Further artists the Team of Radio International had the pleasure of chatting with is Kaleen from Austria  coming 24th with the song "We will rave". Bessa represented Albania with "Titan" (Number 15 in Semi Final 2 ).
Former Eurovision artists also came to perform at the Euroclub or the Eurovision PreParties in London and Madrid. This week listen to an interview with Tampta representing Cyprus in 2019 with the song "Replay". Radio International had the pleasure to once again meet Dr. Anna Bergendahl at the Madrid PreParty in April 2024. Ann represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "This is my life". Then Michael Rice represented the United Kingdom with the song "Bigger than us" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Radio International met Michael at the 2024 edition of the London Eurovision Party for an update interview.

Eurovision Spotlight: The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - The Assessment:  As every year after the Eurovision Song Contest the Radio International Experts share their opinion of the annual music spectacular so also this year as Alasdair Rendall continues this mini series of the Eurovision Spotlight looking at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 from his point of view.

Also JP will be joined by David Mann for the Eurovision Birthday File and Eurovision Coverspot.  Nick will be presenting the Eurovision News courtesy of escXtra.com. There will be a lot of the great new releases of Eurovision artists on the show as well as great Eurovision Classics. Meet the Eurovision Stars 2022:  The Eurovision Land 2022 is preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and many pre-parties or promo events are happening across Europe. Radio International's roving reporter Salman was in London at the 2022 Preview Event and interviewed many of the Eurovision Stars 2022 of which some will air on the show this week and next week. Get ready to meet Sheldon Riley (Australia 2022), Lumix feat. Pia Maria (Austria 2022), We Are Domi (Czech Republic 2022), Monika Liu (Lithuania 2022), Emma Muscat (Malta 2022), WRS (Romania 2022) and Andrea (North Macedonia 2022) and Vladana (Montenegro 2022).

 

 
Interview with Vladana (Montenegro 2022): At the recent edition of Melodifestivalen 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden, the Swedish OGAE branch has organised the MelfestWKND 2022 with the participation of Swedish acts such as Nanne Grönvall and Dotter but also Malik Harris who represents Germany at Eurovision 2022 with "Rockstars", Aidan from sunny Malta who came second in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Ritmu" and Vladana who waves the flag for Montenegro in Turin later on in May.

This week Radio International broadcasts the interview that the Interview Team did in Stockholm with Vladana. She represents Montenegro in Semi Final 2 as Song Number 15 entitled "Breathe". Get to know the charming singer during this interview on the show this week.

Sweden's Biggest and Best TV Show Melodifestivalen ended on Saturday 12 Mar 2022 with the Grand Final after funneling down the 28 entries via four heats, two semi finals and the Grand Final. Swedish broadcaster SVT received way over 2000 songs for the 2022 edition of Melodifestivalen which on Saturday was won by Cornelia Jakobs with the song "Hold me closer" and will be representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Semi Final 2 at Song Number 17. The Radio International Interview Team was in Stockholm, Sweden and interviewed all the contestants of Melodifestivalen plus more.

Melodifestivalen 2022 Interview with Anna Bergendahl: This week on Radio International hear the interviews with one more finalist of Melodifestivalen 2022. Anna Bergendahl. No stranger to the world of the Eurovision Song Contest Anna already won Melodifestivalen 2010 and represented Sweden in Oslo, Norway with the song "This is my life". Unfortunately, the song ended up at Number 11 in her Semi Final which is the only time that Sweden did not make it into the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Anna, now learning to become a medical doctor, has also regained appetite to try it again to win the ticket to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. She returned to Melodifestivalen in 2019 with "Ashes to Ashes" coming 10th, then in 2020 she came 3rd with "Kingdom Come" and this year in 2022 she ranked 12th in the Melodifestivalen Grand Final with the song "Higher Power".

Interviews with Lina Hedlund (2019) of Alcazar and Anis Don Demina (2020): At the Aftershow Party of Melodifestivalen many of the Swedish artists that were on the stage of Melodifestivalen "gatecrash" and Salman, Marc and JP bumped into Anis Don Demina and Lina Hedlund. Lina of Alcazar fame took part in Melodifestivalen 2019 with the song "Victorious" coming 11th and in 2020 she become one of the hosts of Sweden's biggest live TV Show - Melodifestivalen.

Anis Don Demina has been on the stage of Melodifestivalen four times: In 2018 he was the saxophonist in Samir and Viktor's song "Shuffla" coming 4th. Then in 2019 he returned together with Zena to the contest singing "Mina bränder". The act ranked 5th in Heat 1 and with that did not advance further. In 2020 Anis Don Demina returned as a solist onto the stage of Melodifestivalen and performed "Vem e som oss" and came 5th. It does not stop there as he was one of the Co-Hosts of Melodifestivalen 2021 on the side of Oscar Zia.

Melodifestivalen is Sweden's national televised music competition to find the best new song of the year. The winner of the competition then goes on to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Twenty-eight acts go through four Semi Finals and a Second Chance round before the top twelve go into the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2020, held once again at the Friends Arena in Solna (near Stockholm) in front of a live audience of almost 30000 spectators, plus millions of TV viewers both in Sweden and abroad.

In this clip, we talk to Anna Bergendahl who performs the song "Kingdom Come" in Melodifestivalen 2020 - Semi Final 2 in Gothenburg. Anna made a huge comeback in 2019 with the song "Ashes to Ashes" reaching the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen ranking 10th. She returns in 2020 with the song "Kingdom Come". Melodifestivalen 2019 - Semifinal 1 (Gothenburg) - Complete Coverage

Melodifestivalen is the selection process in Sweden for the Eurovision Song Contest where Sweden's entry is selected. The first semifinal took place on Saturday 02 February 2019 in Gothenburg in the legendary Scandinavium Arena, where the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 took place with the Bobbysocks from Norway winning for Norway with  "Let it swing".

In this first Semi Final Melodifestivalen 2019 seven artists competed to advance in to the Grand Final (and Second Chance round) of Melodifestivalen 2019 to be held in Stockholm's Friends Arena on 09 March 2019.
