Week 19/2013 on Eurovision Radio International from Malmoe, Sweden

Eurovision Radio International from 08 May 2013 from Malmoe, Sweden

Join Eurovision Radio International this Wednesday 08 May 2013, 8-11pm CET for the first of a special edition of Eurovision Radio International. As the Team of Radio International is in Malmö, Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest this and next week Radio International broadcasts its traditional programme "Eurovision 2012 meets Eurovision 2013" as a review to last year's Eurovision Song Contest entries and a look ahead of the songs that are competing in 2013. This week it is Part 1 of 2. Part 2 will be broadcast at the same time next week.

Due to this special programme Radio International changes the format of this and next week's edition of the show therefore cannot accept any music requests this and next week. All resumes in the normal format when the team is back in the studio in the Netherlands on 22 May 2013 with coverage of the two Eurovision weeks and interviews with the Eurovision artists.

39 countries are competing for the trophy and the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. The countries are distributed into two Semi Finals and the Top Ten of both Semi Finals meet in the Grand Final on the Big Five (Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy and the host country Sweden.

Semi Final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 May 2013.
Semi Final 2 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 is scheduled for Thursday, 16 May 2013.
The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 is scheduled for Saturday, 18 May 2013.

All three shows come from the Malmö Arena in Sweden and who fill follow in the footsteps of Loreen as Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest? :)  May the best song win and now enjoy this week's three hour Eurovision extravaganza.

Join Radio International on Wednesday, 08 May 2013 from 2000 - 2300 hours CET, via the website or on FM. Radio International is available live via www.radiointernational.tv and on FM 106.8, Digital Cabel Channel 781 in parts of the Netherlands and via www.livestream.com/radint. Should you not be able to listen live, the show will appear in the Programme’s Show Archive a few hours after it’s airing on the radio.

Dear Eurovision Fans,

JP started to create this blog to supplement the radio show Eurovision Radio International which airs every Wednesday from 2000 - 2300 hours CET. Details are available on the show webpage.

In 2013, as everybody now knows, the Eurovision Song Contest comes from Malmoe in Sweden on May 14, 16 & 18 and the Team of Radio International will be there for conducting Interviews and video reports which we will also publish in this blog. Watch out for it and return frequently.

Interview with Ralph Siegel (composer of San Marino 2012)

San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 is represented by Valentina Monetta. Her entry to Eurovision is composed by Ralph Siegel who over the years has brought us a lot of nice songs at Eurovision but also in the German-speaking Charts. Amongst the biggest successes is his winning song at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 - Nicole with "Ein bisschen Frieden". Lilian and JP had a quick interview with the composer right after the Press Conference of San Marino which you can watch below.



Interview with Izabo from Israel (Eurovision 2012)

Israel is represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 by Izabo with the song "Time". It competes in Semi Final 1 and below watch the interview with band we did earlier this morning.


Baku 2012 - Day 2

Monday - 14 May 2012:

Last night we finished the first day of the single rehearsals and left the Press Centre at 2200 hours for some food outside at the boulevard of Baku. Very nice atmosphere.  Then home.
In the photo see the Christal Hall at night time. Impressive. More pics on JP's Facebook Album.

And today after along trip by public transport and loads of walking in the hot sun with 35 degrees C I made it and when I reached my team we also received a phone call to interview Izabo from Israel which we are working on right now and you find it a bit later on in this blog.

Greetings and First Impressions from Baku

Saturday 13 May 2012 - Welcome to Baku!!! 
The Home of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.

Hello dear Eurovision friends to the very first Blog of JP from Radio International from the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 which is the 57th Song Contest in its history. It all kicked off in 1956 in Switzerland with the host national also winning the Contest with Lys Assia who performed "Refrain" in Lugano.

In 2011, Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest with Eldar & Nigar singing "Running scared" which took the Eurovision Song Contest to Baku and that is where we are right now reporting with an international team to the world.

Me made it to Baku and together with our Facebook photo album we would like to bring you as much as possible of coverage from Eurovision 2012.  Don't forget to check here regularly.

Eurovision 2012 - Iceland: Interview with Greta & Jonsi

(Sat 13 May 2012) And our very first interview in Baku done in the Press Centre right after the Press Conference Lilian, Roger and JP had the pleasure to interview the Icelandic representative to the Eurovision Song Contest: Greta Salome & Jonsi who perform the song "Never Forget" in Semi Final 1 at Number 2. Jonsi has represented Iceland previously in 2004 with the song "Heaven".
