The Eurovision Spotlight - The National Final Season: With the beginning of a New Year is also the start of the National Final Season for the Eurovision Song Contest. Montenegro returns to the contest in 2025 and had already selected their entry in November 2024. 36 countries are taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 which will be taking place on 13 and 15 May 2024 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final on 17 May 2025. Radio International will be taking a look at the national finals and showcase the highlights every week in the Eurovision Spotlight as Dermot Manning continues the series.

GREECE - Ethnikós Telikós 2025:  The Greek participating broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) will organise the national final Ethnikós Telikós 2025 in order to select its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition will take place on 30 January 2025 at the Christmas Theater in Galatsi hosted by Sakis Rouvas (Greece 2004 and 2009 and host of Eurovision 2006 in Athens) and Eurovision Winner 2005 Helena Paparizou who was also part of the Greek entry in 2001 in Antique. 12 artists are competing with 12 songs which Radio International will introduce the the fans on the show this week. 

 

BELGIUM - Eurosong 2025: The Belgian participating broadcaster, Flemish Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT), will organise the national final Eurosong 2025 in order to select its entry for the contest. The competition consists of two pre-recorded showcase shows that were broadcast on 18 and 25 Jan 2025, followed by a live Grand Final to be broadcast on 01 Feb 2025 where the winning song and artist will be selected to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel. Radio International is please to introduce the songs to the fans on the show this week.


Also JP will be joined by David Mann for the Eurovision Birthday File and Eurovision Coverspot.  Nick will be presenting the Eurovision News courtesy of escXtra.com. There will be a lot of the great new releases of Eurovision artists on the show as well as great Eurovision Classics. Javier will be updating us on the upcoming Eurovision events in the Eurovision Calendar whereas Alain Forrotti updates you where you can watch the Eurovision National Finals for 2025, and and and....

Through the Summer 2023 with Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience:  The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 was staged in Liverpool last May with Sweden's Loreen winning the contest for a second time after her victory in 2012 with the song "Euphoria". Her winning song for 2023 is "Tattoo". Radio International has still a number of interviews from the contest and the pre-events which will be broadcast during the next few summer weeks of 2023.

This week we have interview clips with The Busker (Malta 2023), Victor Vernicos (Greece 2023), the Piqued Jacks (San Marino 2023), Anabel Conde (Spain 1995) done at J'aime la Vlie 2023 in the Netherlands and from the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 there is Bradley Debono.

Anabel Conde represented Spain as lead artist in 1995 with the song "Vuelve con migo" which came 2nd after Norway's Victory with Secret Garden and the song "Nocturne". Anabel wrote and recorded "It's for you" which became Andorra's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 performed by Jennifer. The song is called "Senze tu" and came 23rd in the Semi Final. The year before in 2005, Anabel Conde was backing vocalist for the entry from Andorra performed by a Dutch singer Marian van de Wal performing "La Mirada Interior" coming 23rd in the Semi Final. Radio International's JP had the pleasure to meet and interview Anabel Conde at the 2023 edition of J'aime la Vlie on the Dutch island Vlieland. Interview with Eurovision Winner Loreen (Sweden 2012 and 2023): The 67th Eurovision Song Contest which took place on Saturday, 13 May 2023 in the M&S Arena of Liverpool, United Kingdom was won by Loreen from Sweden with the song "Tattoo".

CONGRATULATIONS LOREEN!

This is Sweden's seventh victory equaling with Ireland. Already in 2012 Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Europhoria". Loreen is the first female singer to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice whereas Johnny Logan is the first male singer having won the Eurovision Song Contest twice as a singer in 1980 and 1987. Prior to Loreen's second victory Radio International's JP and Marc had the pleasure and honour to meet Loreen for an interview which you can hear on the show this week.
