Picked Jacks (San Marino 2023) at MancHagen 2025

Interview with the Picked Jacks (San Marino 2023):  At the recent edition of MancHagen 2025 in view of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 the organisers also invited acts that already were on the satge of the Eurovision Song Contest previously such as Picked Jacks who represented San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool with the song "Like an animal" which unfortunately did not qualify for the Grand Final and remained in Semi Final 2 at Number 16. Radio International's Salman met and interviewed the group at MancHagen 2025. You can hear this interview on the show this week.

Interview with Margret Berger (Norway 2013): It was in 2013 when Margret Berger represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "I feed you my love" coming 4th in Malmö, Sweden. That particular song contest was won by Emmelie de Forest from neighbouring Denmark with the song "Only Teardrops".
In the run up to the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 Margret was invited to the London Eurovision
Party 2025 where the rowing reporter of Radio International Salman had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Margret Berger which you can hear on the show this week.

Maria Sur (Melodifestivalen 2023 and 2024)

Interview with Maria Sur (Sweden's Melodifestivalen 2023 and 2024): In 2023 a newcomer to Melodifestivalen in Sweden came from Ukraine and started her career in Sweden. Already her first Melodifestvalen entry was a success. Maria Sur qualified from the Heat into the Grand Final where she finished 9th with the song "Never give up".  In 2024, Maria Sur returned to Sweden's biggest music competition to select the entry to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song in the running was "When you're gone" coming 7th in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024, coming second in her Heat. 
Maria Sur was invited to perform a the London Eurovision Party 2025 where the Radio International rowing reporter Salman had the pleasure to interview Maria once again and you can hear it on the show this week. 

The Alchemist at Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025

Interview with The Alchemist (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025): On Sat. 08 Feb 2025 Miriana Conte and her song "Kant" (now "Serving") was selected by the jury and Maltese public to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contetest 2025 in Basel in May. Miriana successfully placed Malta in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest ranking 17th at the end of the voting sequence.
Earlier on in February 2025, Radio International conducted interviews with all the contestants at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and more.
This week, Radio International will broadcast an interview with a new act to the competition. It is the Maltese group The Alchemist who successfully qualified for the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 out of Semi Final 2 and then placed 9th with the song "Rubble and Stone"

The Eurovision Spotlight: The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 - Eurovision's Magic Numbers:   With the summer solstice marking the start of the Summer 2025 the Eurovision Spotlight Team Members decided to continue where we left off last year at the end of summer with Eurovision's Magic Numbers. Enjoy this unique way of featuring the songs of the Eurovision Song Contest on the show. Radio International's Irish Voice - Dermot Manning will be starting the new series this week.

Melodifestivalen 2024 - Grand Final Special and Interviews with the contestants: 2624 songs were submitted to Swedish Television (SVT) for Melodifestivalen 2024. The selection was narrowed down to 30 acts which were distributed onto five heats. 12 songs will be competing in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 on 09 Mar 2024 in Stockholm's Friends Arena. The winner of that show will then represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The results of each heat can be followed at out colleagues from Wikipedia - CLICK HERE.

This week on Radio International there is a special in view of the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 which will be staged in the Friends Arena of Stockholm. Javier joins JP to co-present the Top 12 Finalists as well as broadcasting interviews with some of the finalists such as Liamoo, Maria Sur, Dotter, Danny Saucedo, Smash into Pieces, Lisa Ajax and others.

Who will win Melodifestivalen 2024 and with that also to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe, Sweden on 11 May 2024. As Sweden is the host country in 2024 the Swedish entry will not need to go through the Semi Final stage and directly qualified for the Grand Final to take place on 11 May 2024 from the Malmie Arena.

Eurovision Spotlight - The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - National Final Season: Sweden will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 which will be the 68th contest in its history coming once again from the Malmoe Arena, Malmoe, Sweden on 07 & 09 May 2024 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final scheduled for Saturday 11 May 2024. Many participating countries to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 are holding their selection shows across Europe and each week on Radio International we take a look at the ongoing selection processes and play some of the highlights from the National Finals and songs that actually will be selected to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe. Alasdair Rendall will be reviewing the selection processes over the last week and you hear the songs on the show this week.

Many participating countries to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 are holding their selection shows across Europe and each week on Radio International we take a look at the ongoing selection processes and play some of the highlights from the National Finals and songs that actually will be selected to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe. Dermot Manning will be reviewing the selection processes over the last week and you hear some of the songs on the show this week.

Eurovision Song Contest – Das deutsche Finale 2024: Live Interview with German Finalists.  Like in previous years Radio International reaches out to interview some of the acts from the German National Final which in 2024 comprises of nine acts which will be competing for the ticket to Malmoe to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmoe on 11 May 2024. Among the acts is also former German entry Max Mutzke who reached 8th place for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul, Turkey with the song "Can't wait until tonight". Will he do the race again or one of the other acts: Bodine Monet, Marie Reim, Ryk, Floryan, Galant, Isaak, Leona or NinetyNine. Radio International this week will be previewing the songs of The German National Final will be bradcast Friday, 16 Feb 202 at 2205 hours on ARD.
So far confirmed for an interview is Bodine Monet and more to follow. Watch this space.

Melodifestivalen 2024 - Heat 2 Allstarz

Melodifestivalen 2024 - Heat 2: 2624 songs were submitted to Swedish Television (SVT) for Melodifestivalen 2024. The selection was narrowed down to 30 acts which were distributed onto five heats. 12 songs will be competing in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 on 06 Mar 2024 in Stockholm's Friends Arena. The winner of that show will then represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. On 03 Feb 2024 saw the first of five heats taking place and with that starting the Melodifestivalen 2024 Roadshow. The results of each heat can be followed at out colleagues from Wikipedia - CLICK HERE.

Radio International's JP and Ludvig were in Gothenburg at Heat 2 having had the pleasure of chatting with all six acts during the rehearsals and after the live broadcast. This week on the show listen to and interview with Liamoo who qualified directly to the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 with the song "Dragon". Maria Sur also won a place in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2024 after winning the Heat 2 voting and will perform her song "When you are gone" in Stockholm. Place 3 was Dear Sarah with the song "The Silence after you" and place four was Fröken Snusk with the song "Unga & fria" of which both will compete in the Semi Final of Melodifestivalen 2024.

 

Senhit (San Marino 2011 and 2021) at OGAE Germany Convention 2024

Interview with Senhit (San Marino 2011 and 2021): Surprise guest at the recent edition of OGAE Germany's annual convention 2024 in January in Munich was Senhit. She represented San Marino twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2011 it was with "Stand By" which failed to qualify San Marino for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2011 reaching number 16 in Semi Final 1. Her second attempt was "Adrenalina" with which Senhit qualified San Marino for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contes 2021 coming 22nd in Rotterdam. Radio International's Marc and JP had the pleasure to meet Senhit once again for an update on her career and her European Tour plus more. Melodifestivalen 2023 - The Grand Finalists

Melodifestivalen is Sweden's national televised music competition to find the best new song of the year. The winner of the competition then goes on to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Twenty-eight acts go through four Heats and two Semi Final Rounds before the top twelve go into the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2023, held once again at the Friends Arena in Solna (near Stockholm) in front of a live audience of almost 30000 spectators, plus millions of TV viewers both in Sweden and abroad.

On Saturday, 11 Mar 2023 Loreen won Melodifestivalen for a second time after winning already in  2012 with the song "Euphoria" and as history is repeating Loreen will be representing Sweden once more with the song "Tattoo".

Congratulations to Loreen for once again winning Melodifestivalen and with that she will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom in May. Sweden will participate in Semi Final 1 Second Half on Tuesday, 09 May 2023 with the song "Tattoo".

Melodifestivalen 2023 Finalists Interviews (Part 2): Members of the Team of Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience where on location at the Friends Arena near Stockholm, as well as in Heat 1 and 4 in Gothenburg and Malmoe respectively and conducted interviews with some of the artists of Melodifestivalen 2023. This week listen to the first batch of interviews with Mariette, Eva Ridberg and Ewa Roos, Loulou Lamotte of the Mamas, Kiana, Tone Sekelius, Maria Sur and Rejhan.  There will be more on the show next week.

EUROVISION 2023 by Regions: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is in full flow and all participating countries have selected  their songs to the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom on May 09, 11 and 13 for the Grand Final. In the run up to the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience will be playing all of the songs to get the listeners and fans familiar with the songs that are competing in Liverpool.

Also JP will be joined by David Mann for the Eurovision Birthday File and Eurovision Coverspot  as well as Alasdair Rendall who presents in the Eurovision Spotlight: Eurovision 2023 in Regions taking a look at the Southern Region entries in the Eurovision 2023 Land.
