The Eurovision Spotlight - The National Final Season: With the beginning of a New Year is also the start of the National Final Season for the Eurovision Song Contest. Montenegro returns to the contest in 2025 and had already selected their entry in November 2024. 36 countries are taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 which will be taking place on 13 and 15 May 2024 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Final on 17 May 2025. Radio International will be taking a look at the national finals and showcase the highlights every week in the Eurovision Spotlight as Chris Poppe continues the series looking at the countries' selection shows of the past week.

Live Interview with Chiara (Malta 2005): Celebrating 20 years anniversary of the song "Angel" since it was Malta's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 which took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. Chiara performed the song so beautifully and took it all the way to Number 2 in the Grand Final Scoreboard behind Helena Paparizou from Greece with the song "My Number 1". To celebrate the 20th anniversary of "Angel", Chiara will join Marc and JP for a chat on this week's edition of Radio International to talk about her times at the Eurovision Song Contest as she represented Malta not only twice but three times. In 1998 Malta came 3rd with "The one that I love", in 2005 Malta came 2nd with "Angel" and in 2009 a number 22 with "What if we". We are very much looking forward to be speaking the one Malta's finest singers.

Miriana Conte just won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025

The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025: On Sat. 08 Feb 2025 Miriana Conte and her song "Kant" was selected by the jury and Maltese public to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contetest 2025 in Basel in May. Radio International conducted interviews with all the contestants and more. Over the next weeks you will hear these interviews on Radio International's weekly dose. Norway's Melodi Grand Prix 2025:  Saturday, 15 Feb 2025 is the date of Norway's National Final - The Norsk Melodi Grand Prix. Nine acts are battling it out for the ticket to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in May. The lineup includes the Bobbysocks who previously won the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 with the song "Let it swing" and also Wigwam who represented Norway in 2005 with the song "In my dreams". Radio International will introduce the songs of the Norway Melodi Grand Prix on the show this week with Robert Wahlstroem.

 

Melodifestivalen 2025: Sweden's national final is called Melodifestivalen and is the biggest one in the world of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is the 65th edition and is produced by Swedish broadcaster SVT. 30 entries out of 2794 submitted songs made it to the shows. The 30 entries will take part in the competition across five heats. Each heat consists of six songs, with the top two songs directly qualifying for the final. Unlike in the previous edition, only the third-placing song will proceed to a final qualification round at the end of the fifth heat, which will now feature five songs instead of ten. The top two songs in the final qualification will then progress to the final, which will comprise 12 songs. The winner of the final will be determined by the usual 50/50 combination of votes from the public and an international jury. All shows will all be hosted by Edvin Törnblom and Kristina Petrushina.The dates and locations of the shows is shown below:

Interview with Chiara (Malta 1998, 2005, 2009): At the recent edition of Eurovision Club Germany's Annual Convention on 19 November 2022 in Cologne, Germany, five Eurovision acts were special guests performing each a little concert of course, containing their Eurovison entry / entries. Getter Jaani (Estonia 2011), WRS (Romani 2022), Selma (Iceland 1999 and 2005), Fridrik Omar of Euroband (Iceland 2008) and Chiara (Malta 1998, 2005 and 2009) performed at the event.
JP, Marc and Salman were on location and conducted interviews with all the artists which you will hear on the show. This week the next and final interview from the event is the interview one of Malta's Best Singers - Chiara.

Chiara not only represented her native country Malta once, not twice but three times when in 1998 she came 3rd with the song "The One that I Love". She came 2nd in 2005 with the song "Angel" and in 2009 she tried again with the song "What if we" coming 22nd. Will she try to represent Malta for a 4th time and what are her memories from her participation at Eurovision.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 took place in Copenhagen, Denmark where 37 countries competed for the trophy of the 59th Eurovision Song Contest. Eurovision 2014: Interview with Chiara on launch of "Mermaid in love"

The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the 59th edition of the contest after Emmelie de Forest won the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmoe, Sweden for Denmark with "Only Teardrops".

The Team of Radio International has teamed up with escflashmalta.com and Eurovision Norwich to bring you some nice interviews with the artists of the participating countries.

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014 - Complete Coverage and Interviews with the contestants

The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is the national selection of Malta to find the song that will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 2014.

20 contestants and voices compete in the Semi Final in the venue called Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (MFCC). 14 of the songs advance to the Grand Final which takes places on Saturday 08 February 2014. The Winner will get the ticket to Copenhagen to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest following in the footsteps of Gianluca Bezzina who with "Tomorrow" achieved a remarkable 8th place in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

The Team of Radio International is on location in Ta'Qali interviewing the contestants.

The Winning Moments and the Winner's Interview with FIRELIGHT who now will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in May in Copenhagen with the song "Coming Home".
